DuQuoin Rally
May 3, 2003

Hovercraft racing returns to DuQuoin, IL with participants traveling from locations as far distant as Houston, TX and Ontario, Canada to race this course. With its rolling hills and banked turns, DuQuoin has been described as a "drivers track".

With close to 20 participants attending racing included F1, F2, F25, FS and entry level classes. With the local assistance of Dave Alabastro, we had a particulary competative entry level which included representatives from SIUC (Southern Illinois University Carbondale), Benton High School and Frankfort High School.

On Sunday the weather turned for the worse with thunderstorms starting at daybreak. While Sunday may have been a fair weather day if you were a duck, the humans clearly prevailed on Saturday. Another great day of racing and a venue we look forward to repeating in next year's racing season.

A special thanks to all of our volunteers who helped make this event the success that it was. Without our scorekeepers, flagmen and those who helped set up and break down the course, this event would not have been possible.
