Hovercraft Registration
Please make sure your hovercraft is properly licensed in your
home state.
Make sure you and your
children are legal operators
Ohio state
law ORC 1547.05 states:
"No person born on or
after January 1, 1982, shall operate a powercraft powered by
more than 10 horsepower unless the operator has received a certificate
for successful completion of either of the following:
-A boating course approved by the National
Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA);
-A proficiency examination approved by the Ohio Division of
Watercraft."
It is important for all participants wishing
to operate a craft at the event to meet this requirement.
This requirement can be met by taking the test online or by
contacting the Hoverclub of America for a hard copy of the exam
and sending it to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
If you have passed a boating safety course in your home
state bring documentation!
The Ohio DNR will be at the event to assist
those that have questions and can administer the test on-site
if necessary. The Ohio DNR has been very helpful in the
past and it is their goal to make sure that everyone has a good
time and abides by the law.
