2009 HOVERALLY - The Largest Hovercraft Event in the USA!

Hoverally 09 Point-to-Point Challenge

This years P2P Challenge is a Poker Run. Here's how it works:

The Event will take place on the rally lake so that all the spectators can view the event.

Each participant will be given two bags. One bag will be locked and contain a full deck of playing cards, the other a clear zip-lock bag that contains a course map and a station check-off card, and will contain your poker hand when finished. There are seven stations located around the lake. Each participant's map will be unique, and will direct them to each station in a different order. At the station, a volunteer will unlock your card bag, verify that you have arrived at the correct station and allow you to select one playing card. That card will be placed in your zip-lock back, your card bag will be re-locked, and you will consult your map and head to the next station. If you arrive at a station out of sequence, you will be denied a card. Once you have collected all seven cards, you head back to the finish station, where you will present both bags to the official, and your finish place will be recorded.

The game winner will have the combination of the best poker hand (best 5 out of 7 cards) and the lowest finish place. These two components will determine the number of points received. The partcipant with the highest number of points wins. A point matrix based on finish place and poker hand will be used to determine the number of points awarded. There are a great number of combinations of points that can be won. This is partly a game of luck and speed.

Above is a Sample Map. Each participant will have a map with a unique routing order . There will be many craft zig-zagging across the lake, so you must be very careful to avoid other craft while heading to your stations. It is advisable, and will be much more fun if you have a partner in your craft who can jump out and run up to the station volunteer. The volunteer stations will be located close to, but not on the water's edge. In most cases you will need to beach your craft at the edge, and walk onto land.

Good Luck!!
