Event is still on. Giving final ice report as of 6:00pm. Today I got nervous because of the warm day we had yesterday and last night 54 degrees over night. but from boat launch west is still solid ice all the way across, to the east of the launch about 50% water, bridge areas all water. We are going down to 17 degrees tonight so should be hard ice in the morning, a little soft on top right now, but pretty thick still could not break through by foot. conditions are probably going to be hard slick ice to the west. That is the area I was planning on setting up some kind of course from cones to play a little and still have 1.5 to 2 miles to run on with no water. Hope to see evenyone tomarrow that is attending. I am antcipating 6-9 crafts should be a good time.... biggrin.gif

Thanks for the comments I think we had 7 crafts, here is who attended, spelling maybe off I'll just sorry now....Chris Sorgatz, Darvis\Joanne Thornhill, Craig/Sarah Bogart + 2 friends, Dave Reyburn, Steve Wilkee, Les Melvik, Tim/Gordon/Zack/Maryann Clearwood, George Kach(sp)/wife, a new builder name Tom from local area, his craft wasn't done but he showed up and had some good conversation and story telling among all members. Ice conditions were hard and fast. Dave Reyburn almost flipped the rocket, AFTER bleeding off some of his speed. Had a couple of icing conditions that effected throttle cables, Steve Wilkee was fighting battery/lift engine issues but was still able to hover most of the day. Didn't get a chance to setup course because of all the mingling that usually occurs at these events. Most people took advantage of the spagetti dinner at the Moose Lodge. I think it was a good event for all that attended. Look forward to planning another event for next year. Pictures will be posted I have a couple hundred to go through that my brother took.
Thank you

Tim,
It sounds like you had a great event! My daughter called me Friday to tell me she had seen a "large red Hovercraft" on a trailer headed up I-77 south of Canton Ohio. I wondered it it was somebody headed to your event. If it was.....they went past the off ramp within 4 blocks of my house! I wish I would have known, I would have offered a rest stop and some coffee.

Nice job Tim,

Tim

Funny, somebody on Hoverlovers is inquiring about why their Scat is always stripping the belt sad.gif
Is their engine mounting no good? Belt tension fundamentally wrong? Pulleys need faceplates?

I put a Dodge HTD toothed belt system on my first UH13T, and had no issues with it whatsoever except for price and weight. But it worked beautifully.

I'm sure this info is on Doug Pendleton's Scat info page somewhere, but I don't know where it is anymore. Is somebody still hosting it?

We have rip up 3 or 4 belts in the past year...Pullys are good,,, engine mounting is good,,Dave R said maybe tension is off. I am going to get a new belt and check tension when I install it...About 4 belts or so ago I did ajust tension so maybe thats our problem.....We will see very shortly..By the way ours is a Scat 1 and from what I hear they are knowen for ripping up belts....

Had the best ice hover ever - everybody was enjoying the "warm" 30F. and sun - going 60.0mph backwards, the bar next door & the multiple 360's - I had a blast !

Thanks again Tim/Gordon - good to see everyone - had fun giving rides of a lifetime!
